Spring Dress-Up
Even basic dinnerware can be brought to life with
a little effort. This green dinner plate is from
the "Couleurs" Collection by Emile Henry.
It is
a durable pottery, great for everyday use. But
here,
we are using it for a spring luncheon. The first
thing we did was use a white placemat. Placing
any plate on a white placemat will instantly dress
it
up -- it will turn your everyday dinnerware into
fancy party dinnerware.
Then, we chose a seasonally
appropriate accent color -- here, yellow for spring.
You could have a bowl of lemons on the table, or
even a yellow tablecloth underneath the white placemats.
Then, we added a napkin. By keeping the napkin
fabric white, we continued our intent to "
dress
up" the
table. The pattern of fern leaves on the napkin
adds some flare. A basic white accent salad plate
again
continues the effort to dress up the look. Finally,
we added seasonally appropriate white flowers --
daisies here -- to complete the clean, fresh, dressed-up
spring look we were aiming for.
