Mottahedeh "Tobacco Leaf"
Porcelain
5 Piece Place Setting, $575.00
This extravagant design was originally made in China, probably for export to the Portugese or Brazilian markets. Of all the 18th-century dinnerware patterns, this was the most highly prized. A small phoenix bird perches on the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant. Twenty-seven colors and 22 k gold make up this pattern based on an original in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Dinner Plate, $175.00; Dessert Plate, $145.00; Bread & Butter Plate, $95.00; Cup & Saucer, $160.00. Other pieces available.
